TINUI.
I (From Our Own Correspondent.) April 8. The Anglican Church was crowded ! on Sunday the sth inst., it being I Harvest Thanksgiving Sunday. There [ was also a parade • of the mounted rifles, and a ceremony in connection with two beautiful stained glass windows, which were given to the church in memory of the late John Groves, Ann Groves and Mary Maud Speedy, was held. Mrs Graham Speedy, of Wainui, was the doner of the windows. The Rev J. H. Sykes preached an appropriate sermon. The late Mr John Groves was one of j New Zealand's oldest and respected j settlers. Ha was born in the Isle of ; Wight in 1827 and came to New ' Zealand in 1855, settling in the j Castlepoint district. He followed farming puruits until within a few years of his death. Mi Groves was, like all the old pioneers, blessed with a strong constitution, venturesome, and i plucky. By hard work and pluck he ' soon carved out a home for himself and family. Not only the old settlers but many of the younger ones often speak yet 'of the warmhearted hospitality of Mr and Mrs Groves, who lived to a good old age. The following members of the family are now living: Mrs Graham Speedy, (Wainui); Mrs McHutcon, (Whakataki); and Mrs Bellifs, (Tinui). Those dead are Mr John Groves, who died at Suva eighteen months ago, H. Groves, W. Groves, A Groves, and Mesdames Williams and W. Speedy. The Doctor Guarantee Fund has been fully- subscribed, and Dr. ' Dawson has been engaged for twelve i I months. {
