NEW ZEALAND RUGBY UNION.
The New Zealand Rugby Union met on Thursday night. Mr G. V. Boyle wrote askinng for permission for a New Zealand University team to travel to Sydney to meet Sydney University in July, and also for permission to pay the travellingjexpenses of the member. The application was granted, the chairman remarking that no permission was necessary in regard to payment of travelling expenses. It was decided to instruct Unions who are to combine against the British team to arrange forfche select ?,ion Of their team and other matters. The selection of teams will be left to the Unions, but in the event of any trouble, the New Zealand body will etap in. It was decided to get a report from the Wanganui Union in regard to a request from the Waverley Club to transfer to the Taranaki Union. A sub-committee was appointed to report on what would be involved in substituting two test matches in place of one between the Britishers and North and South Islands team. It was decided t:> play the North v. South Island match in Wellington on June 20th., a week prior to the date fixed f<?r the test match against Britain. The N.Z. team will be selected after the inter-island match.
