COLLAPSE OF HOUSES.

EIGHT BODIES RECOVERED. CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. Received April 7, 8.35 a.m. LONDON, April 6. The two houses in Castle and Oxford Streets, which collapsed yesterday, as cabled, came down wirhout ; warning. There were thirty-five inmates. Eight, bodies have been recovered, and twenty-one persons rescued alive. Hundreds of police and firemen put forth tremendous exertions to extricate the others. The accident was due to disturbance of the' foundations while rebuilding work was being done at an adjoining warehouse.
