i Miss Skipage has been elected - captain of the Paka Koura Hockey • Club, (Featherston), and Miss East- ■ hope secretary. ? Mr and Mrs J. D. C. Crewe, of j Pahiatua, will leave Wellington by . the Rimutaka to-morrow on a trip to England and will return in November next. ; Mr Jas. Fisher has been elected captain of the Carterton Hockey Club, and Miss N. Telford captain of the Hinemoa (ladies) Hockey Club. Mr Gayfer, a member of the Druids' Lodge, Carterton, has been presented with a gold medal for having proposed the most new members during the past year. Constable Hammond, of Featherston, is confined to his bed through a fall which he sustained from his horse while out on mounted duty. The horse rolled on him and injured him to such an extent that it will be some time before he can resume I duty. Dr. Palmer was called in to \ attend to the injuries. Dr. A. Martin, of Wellington, accompanied by a friend from the metropolis, returned home yesterday, a"ter a couple of days deerstalking at R6ss's Camp, in South Wairarapa. They secured four nice heads. Mr W. McKenzie-Forbes, of Wanganui, left Featherston yesterday afternoon for the same stalking ground. The residents of Pahiatua tendered a farewell social last evening to Mr and Mrs J. D. C. Crewe, who intend making a trip to England. Mr and Mrs Crewe were the recipients nf suitable presentations, and eulogistic references were made to their many sterling qualities. Mr Crewe is a son of the popular Mayor of Pahiatua (Mr D. Crewe), and during his residence in Pahiatua has made many friends, both in business circles and socially.
