METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent twenty-four hours: — Wind—Southerly, strong to gale atall places northward of Napier and Wanganui; moderate to strong from same direction elsewhere. Barometer—Rise everywhere. Rain is probable in most parts of the North Island, and there are indications for frost in the South Island generally. Warning signal for south easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, and Cape Campbell. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for *.he 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on Monday was 29 points.
