LONDON WOOL SALES.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—The March series closed yesterday, 2nd instant. Crossbreds continued to fall until a few days ago when" they steadied and slightly recovered during last two days of the series. As compared with closing prices of January sales crossbred is about 15 per cent, lower. The average values of New Zealand greasv skirter wools in London are now:—Pine halfbreds lOd to 12d, threequarter-breds Bd, medium crossbreds 6|d, coarse wools 3d; inferior, faulty, unskirted, log-stained lots are of course lower. WELLINGTON, April 4. The following cab'e has been received from the High Commissioner dated London, April 3rd:—The April wool sales closed with a good attendance. Competition was unsatisfactory, Continental and American buyers purchasing only a small quantity. The market declined suddenly at the close. Owing to large quantities being withdrawn the demand and prices improved. Estimated values are ns follow:—Superior merino, lid to Is lid; medium, 9d to lid; inferior, s£d to B£d; fine crossbreds, all grades, 10Jd to is Jd; medium, 81d to 10Jd; coarse, 5d to Bd.
