FIRE ON A BARQUE.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE DONE. NARROW ESCAPE OF CARETAKER. Received April 5, 4.15 p.m. SYDNEY, April 5. The barque Dunlor, which arrived from Lyttelton six weeks ago, took fire at 2 o'clock this morning. The vessel was being dismantled, and only the caretaker was on board at the time. A riding lamp fell from the forestay and set fire to a quantity of lose timber. The fire did a good deal of damage before it was extinguished. The caretaker narrowly escaped death, being rescued from his bunk in the nick of time by sailors from a neighbouring ship.
