AMERICAN BATTLESHIP FLEET.
VISIT TO AUSTRALIA. Received April 2, 1 a.m. MELBOURNE, April 1. Mr A. Deakin, Federal Prime Minister, has received a reply to a communication sent by him to the authorities at Washington, requesting to know whether the visit of the fleet from Japan would make any difference as far as the Australian visit was cencerned. Mr Deakin has been informed that the visit to Japan would make no difference in the arrangements. The armoured cruisers would not cross the Pacific, but the entire battleship fleet would come to Australia. There would probably be 16 ships divided in two squadrons of eight each.
