MINERS' EIGHT HOURS BILL.

DEPUTATION TO MR GLADSTONE. ( LONDON, March 27. The Home Secrefary, the Right, Hon. Herbert Gladstone, in reply to a deputation from iron and steel, shipping, and cotton industries, and other users of coal, declared that the Eight Hours Bill would provide for an additional halfhour above what would be allowed by a rigid bank-to-bank Eight Hours Bill. The best experts, he said, would examina the economic side of the question, with a view to finding a reasonable basis. The Bill was open to amendment, for the Government would pass no measure which, in its honest judgment, it thought would do harm to permanent or other industries of the country. Sir Hugh Bell, ironmaster and colliery owner, in thankirg- Mr Gladstone, declared, speech \ did not allay thair anxiety.
