AUCKLAND, March 26. Despite the fact that under the new land laws Amendment Act, preference is given to applicants who are landless, the number applying for Crown land thrown open for selection is in no way lessened. Applications closed at the Auckland Land Officejyesterday for an area of 16,993 acres open for selection, and the total number of applications received was just 700.
