WEST AUSTRALIA.
MINERAL RESOURCES OF THE COLONY. A SLUMP. ... Received March 25, 7.55 a.m. LONDON, March 25. The Western Australian "AgentGeneral (the Hon. C. H. Rason) read a paper before the Society of Arts on "The Mineral Resources of Westralia." He explained that the declining yield was attributable to a general slump in mining, but that there was not the slightest cause for anxiety in regard to the future of the industry. He dwelt on the immense extent of untouched mineral country, and justified the employment, of white labour in Australian mines on political, economic, and social grounds.
