METEOROLOGICAL.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain, for the twenty-four hours up to 9 a.m. on Thursday, was 1.19 inches
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours:— Wind—Southerly, strong to gale at all place 3 northward of Lyttelton and Hotsitika; westerly, strong to gale thence southward. Barometer—Rise sojn northward of Russell and Hokianga Heads; further fall everywhere else, but rising after 10 hours at places northward of Bast Cape, Wanganui and Hokitika; also southward of Timaru and Queenstown.
