A farewell social is to be tendered to the Rev. J. A. Brown by the parishioners of Greytown and Morison's Bush at Greytown on Tuesday evening.
At Waiwaka, on Wednesday, Miss M. Tbomasen, daughter of Mr S. Thomasen, of Waiwaka, was married to Mr Alien Lawrence. Miss Mary Brosnan, of Woodville, was bridesmaid, and Mr H. Bernard best maij. Mr Peter Petersen, of Mauricevile, was married on Wednesday at Kakariki to Miss R. Montgomery, daughter of Mr J. Montgomery. Mr J. Manson was best man and Miss Ethel Thompson bridesmaid.
Mr E. Tyler, of the staff of the Martinborough Post Office, is,at present on holiday leave, and is bein* relieved by Mr Anderson of the Masterton Post Office.
Mr A. D. McLeod, of Martinborough, who will leave next month on a holiday trip to Er.gland, was entertained at a social by the members of the Waihenga Lodge at Martinborough on Monday evening. The death occurred, last evening, at the Redemptorist Monastery, Wellington, of the Rev. Stephen Pnigeon, a well-known member of the order. Father Pidgeon was horn in Dublin 58 years ago, says a Press Aseocjation telegram. He came to Wellington from Ballarat three years ago.
