There ■ are at present fourteen patients in the Greytown Hospital. These include three typhoid fever cases. The accommodation at the hospital is taxed to the utmost. An interesting compaiison of the prices of groceries in 1879 and the present was given in evidence before the Conciliation Board at Raneiora last week, by Mr K. Evans, who stated that he took the prices for 1879 from the record of a meeting of Kaiapoi grocers held in January of that year to fix the prices at which certain commodities should be sold. Following are the prices (the present nrice being given last): Sugar, 6Jd", 2d; tea, 3s 6d, Is 6c (average); tobacco, 6s, (no change) currants, 7d, 4£d; sultanas, 9d, 5d potted meats, Is 6d, Is 2d; soap, lOd (no chanee); sardines, Is, lOd; rice, 4d, 2sd; candles, Is 2d, 7d; mustard, 2s 6d, Is 6d; cornflour, lOd, 6d; matches (per 1.000), lOd, 6d; coffee, Is Ifld, Is Gd; washing soda, 2d, Id; carbonate of soda, Bd, 2d; oatmeal, 3s, 4s; cream of tartar, 4s, Is; sago and tapioca, Bd, 2£d.
