METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours:— Wind.-Easterly, strong to gale after from 12 to 20. hours at all places northward of East Cape, Taupo, and Kawhia; westerly, strong to gale thence Napier and Wanganui; northerly, strong to gale after from 12 to 16 hours all other places. Barometer.—Fall everywhere. Rain is probable generally. Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen and Tiritiri; for southerly gale at East Cape, and for northerly gale at Capes Campbell, Foul wind, Farewell Spit, and Nuggets.
Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m.-on Sunday was 73 points, and for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. on Monday 78 points—total for the four clays 4.08 inches.
