Japanese Ambassador to Washington, in an interview in Paris.said the Japanese approved of the emigration agreement with America, which was entirely aimed in the direction of Japanese emigration to Korea and Formosa. The Uniced States fleet, he said, would receive a cordial welcome in Japan, which wants ppace. GRATIFICATION EXPREbSED IN JAPAN. Received March 23, 9.28 p.m. TOKIO, March 23. Gratification is expressed everywhere in Japan at America's acceptance of the invitation to the fleet to visit Japan. The newspapers declare that the visit of the fleet will afford an opportunity of showing the sincerity of Japanese friendship for the United States. LONDON, March 23. The New York correspondent of "The Times" reports that few events have been hailed with more genuine satisfaction by the entire people and Press than the , visit of the fleet to Japan. Even the "New York Sun" declares that it is satisfactory to see, instead of distrust, a feeling of international good-will and mutual confidence.
