ENGINEERS' STRIKE.
PROPOSALS REJECTED. Received March 20, 8.39 a.m. LONDON, March 19. A fresh ballot by the engineers in the north-east of England, by 4,356 to 3,693, rejected the proposed settlement, and decided to resist reduction in wages, also the reference of the dispute to arbitration. The men rejected at a previous ballot the terms of settlement proposed by Mr Lloyd-George (President of the Board of Trade).
