A GERMAN EXPEDITION.

1 ENGAGEMENT IN KALAHARI DESERT. Received March 20, 10.25 p.m. BERLIN, March 20. Reports are to hand of an engagement in Kalahari Desert between the German expedition and S'mon Copper's followers. Fifty-eight of the latter were killed. Copper escaped. Two German officers and twelve men were severely wounded. Kalahari Desert is a vast tract in South Africa, extending six hundred I miles from the Gariep or Orange River northwards, with an average breadth of 350 miles.
