AUSTRALIA'S ATTITUDE. Received March 18, 9 a.m. LONDON, March 17. Mr Price, Premier of South Australia, interviewed by the "Morning Post," explained that Australia's attitudu towards military defence was partly prompted by the fear that a great awakening of China might constitute a "yellow'peril" ; also because Australia desired to fulfil her part in Imperial defence. Mr Price declared that protection for Australia was a fixed policy, with preference to England. He declined to discuss Home labour problems, but declared that the English investor need not fear confiscation or breach of agreements. LORD ROBERTS DELIGHTED. Received March 18, 10.22 a.m. / ADELAIDE, March 18. A resident of this city has received a letter from Lord Roberts, who says he is delighted at the line Mr Deakin has adopted in connection with the defence proposals, and hopes that they will be carried \ out. Mr Deakin's defence scheme provides for universal military training between the ages of 19 and 21, both inclusive. The training proposed would cover 18 days in each year. Mr Deakin anticipated that in the eighth year there would be 214,00 0 men with arms, ammunition and equipment, including that of artillery and cavalry.
