EXECUTED WITHOUT TRIAL.
THE TROUBLE AT HAYTI. FRANCE WILL NOT SURRENDER REFUGEES. Received March 18, 9.31 a.m. LONDON, March 17. President Alexis, with a view to avoiding complications, authorises refugees at the Consulate to leave Hayti. He claims to possess proofs that General Firmin conspired to assassinate him (Alexis) and his Ministers. Since the outbreak twenty-seven conspirators, who were all blacks, found in possession of firearms, were 1 executed without trial. The refugees include General Nadreau, commander at Port au Prince, and the Chief Justice of Hayti. France has refused to surrender the refugees. Received March 18, 9.29 p.m. NEW YORK, March 18. The United States warships Desmomes and Eagle have been ordered to Hayti.
