RAILWAY COMPANIES "POOL."
AN APPEAL UPHELD. Received March 12, 9 a.m. LONDON, March 11. The Court of Appeal upheld Mr Justice Lawrence's decision regarding the Great Northern and Great Central Railways amalgamation scheme. In November last, the Great Northern and Great Central Railway Companies commenced negotiations for a pooling arrangement, the object being to avoid excessive competition. Mr Justcie Lawrence decided that the scheme exceeded the statutory powers of the companies.
