MUSICAL RECITAL.

A recital of sacred music will be given in S. Matthew's Church, this evening. The choir of the. Church, under the leadership of Mr H. S. Claughton, have been practising the items for some time past, and have mastered the works in question. Sebastian Wesley's "The Wilderness" is a work we)! worth the rendering. The soprano soloist is Miss Kate Holloway. She is assisted in the quartette parts by Miss Elkins, Mr Nixon and Mr Hunn. Mendelssohn's "Hear My Prayer" is, we believe, new to Masterton. In this Miss Vera Edwards is the principal performer, assisted by the choir. "God is a Spirit," by Stemdah Bennett, is sung unaccompanied by Miss Holloway, Miss Eileen Jago, Miss Fuller, MrFendalland Mr Hunn. Miss F. Elkins singa Gounod's "0 Divine Redeemer." and the rest of the programme published in this issue is made up of good chorus work and organ solos by Mr Claughton.
