WIRTH BROS.' CIRCUS.

Wirth Brothers' Circus will open near the Waipoua bridge to-night. Wirth Bros, are this year celebrating the twenty-seventh anniversary of their circus proprietary, and in connection therewith they have reorganised their shows on a completely up-to-date basis, in which American circus ideas have been followed. A contemporary says, concerning Hagenbeck's wild animal act, a special feature of the Circus: —"The act consists of six full-grown lions performing together with a number of leopard bears, and a couple of boar hounds, forming wonderful tableaux and a most exciting and mixed-up finale. It is absolutely the greatest turn Wirths' have ever imported." Amongst the members of the company are:—Mr John Welby Cook, the jockey act rider; Sampsie Osado, Japanese contortionist; Mons. Marco, lion and tiger trainer; Captain Rose, animal trainer; Senor Don Herbertino, "champion table and barrel manipulator"; Fraulein Hertzog, equestrienne, "the queen of the circus" (from Rentz'3 Circus, Berlin) ; the Ozzapardi Trio in what is described as a most sensational acrobatic act in a dog-cart; the Flying Herberts, Miss Phillipina, Miss Marizles, Miss Cooke, Eddie and May, the children's circus, Captain Burrows and his trained elephants, etc. There is also the vaudeville, a new feature of the entertainment.
