MASTERTON GOLF CLUB.

ANNUAL.; MEETING

The annual meeting of the Masterton Golf Club was held yesterday afternoon, Mr W. P. James presiding. There were some fifteen members. The annual report was read as follows: — EIGHTH ANNUAL REPORT. "The Committee have pleasure in submitting the annual report and bal-ance-sheet for the past season, and consider the Club to be in a sound position. The receipts amount to £lOl odd and the expenditure £ll9 odd. The excess of expenditure over receipts is more than accounted for bv the following items:—23 chains of fencing £2B odd, laying down five new greens and-erecting bunkers £3l odd. These improvements are of a permanent nature. The actual working expenses have been kept well within bounds. The membership now stands at 151, an increase of 24 on the previous year. During the season eight inter-Club matches were played, of which our representatives won all. The usual competitions were carried out during the season. The Ladies' Championship was again won by Miss J. Robieson, with Miss E. Robieson second. Mr C. Cox won the Men's Championship, Mr D. Donald being runner-up. The thanks of the Cub are due to the Misses J. and E. Robieson for the manner in which they carried out the tea arrangements, and t-» those who kindly donated trophies. The question of building a new Golf House has been carefully gone into, and the Committee are of opinion that; the work be commenced at once, and now submit their proposal for your sanction." The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr H. G. Williams; Vice-Presidents, Messrs H. H. BeethamandH. Holmes; Captain, Mr W. P. James; General Committee, Messrs A. C. Major, V. Donald, A. B. Lawrence, G. C. Summerell, A. R. Sclanders, A. Bewley, and G. G. Aitken; Match,and Ground Committee, Messrs C. C. Cox. A. B. Lawrence, A. R. Sclanders; Secretary, Mr C. C. Cox; Treasurer, Mr A. Bewley; Ladies' Captain, Mrs Henry; Ladies' Committee. Miss E. Robieson, and Mesdames W. H. Cruickshank and James; Ladies' Secretary, Mis« Robieson. The meeting approved of the holding of a special meeting at the Club House on the links to deal with an increase in the amount of subscription fee as suggested by Mr Lawrence, thereby altering rule 15. which deals with the matter. The secretary stated that a tender at £262 had been accepted by the committee for the erection of a new club house, which would be a very commodious and up-to-date structure, and would be ready in time for the opening day. The committee's action was approved. The fixing of the opening day was left to the committee.
