Mr Harry Humphries, of Greytown, is seriously ill.

It is undei'stood that the pi-esent Mayor of Eketahuna (Mr A. H. Herbert) will nut contes 4 , the seat at the next Mayoral election. The death occurred on Monday night of Mrs Margaret Drysclale, of Nireaha. The deceased was 79 years of age and had resided about twelve vears in the district.

' Mr R. A. Douglas, of the Bank of New South Wales, Carterton, has. been transferred to the Wellington branch of the bank, and will be succeeded by Mr Neville Halse.

The members of the Carterton Presbyterian Choir have presentedMr and Mrs W. Moore with a hand-some-silver cake dish, suitably inscribed, as a mark of esteem, and aa an appreciation of the services, they have rendered to the choir.
