EXECUTIVE'S REPORT.

The Executive's report sets out that the general finances, though not in as flourishing a condition as the previous year, are nevertheless sound, the balance of assets over liabilities amounting to £176 9s 2d. This was a reduction of £2OO as compared with last year, due to the cost of the Christchurch Demonstration. Attention is called to the fact that certain brigades have neglected to supply duly certificated copies of their accounts to the Association's secretary. Twenty-five brigades have neglected to attend to this procedure, and the Executive recommend the passing of a rule for enforcement of a penalty for neglecting to furnish this return. During the year, the Featherston and Islington brigades joined the Association, and the membership roll now numbers 104. The report proceeds:—-"With reference to the unpleasant conduct of several firemen at the Christchurch Conference, we have given the matter the most careful and fullest consideration, and have received an apology from one brigade whose members were concerned, which w<* have deemed quite sufficient. We rgret, however, that in the case of the Queenstown Brigade, the requests of the Executive have been entirely ignored, and we leave the final decision of this case in the hands of the delegates." The Executive recommends for consideration the question of greater control by the Association, through the Executive, of the regulating and carrying out the conditions of competitions and allocations of prize monies, as from experiences it considers the details do not receive the attention they demand. The closing paragraph of the report congratulates the members of the Accident Society on the splendid position it has attained. During the year claims amounting to £9B 5s have been paid, and the balance of assets over liabilities is £1,306 Gs 6d—an increase over the previous year of £153 19s sd.
