FIRE BRIGADES' CONFERENCE.
ARRIVAL OF DELEGATES
YESTERDAY'S ARRANGEMENTS. The hundred-odd delegates which had arrived in Masterton up to Saturday night to attend the Fire Brigades' Cunference paraded yesterday morning in Queen Street, in company with the Masterton Municipal Band. Fire Brigade, Fire Police and Carterton and Greytown Fire Brigadts. They formed an imposing procession as they marched through Queen Street to S. Matthew's Church, where the customary Conference service was held. The Rev. A. M. Johnson occupied the pulpit, and the church was crowded, extra accommodation having to be provided. After church the company re-assembled, marched to the Borough Council Chambers and were there dismissed. In the afternoon about sixteen drags conveyed the visiting and local firemen and a large number of friends to Warden's bush at Te Whiti, where the remainder of the day was spent in picnic fashion. The Municipal Brass Band accompanied the firemen, and greatly enhanced the enjoyableness of the outing with a number of selections. The ladies committee in : connection with the local Brigade had gone ahead of the main party and prepared tea, which was served under the trees. After this had been partaken of the party was photographed by Mr L. H. Lewis, and then a start was made for home, the unanimous opinion being that though the outing was only of short duration, it had been thoroughly enjoyable.
