JOHANNESBURG, March 6. The Transvaal Premier, General Botha, states that the late Mr Kruger left 14,000 sovereigns and 48,000 blue-backs, which had been offered to Lord Milner (late High Commissioner for South Africa), who refused to accept the money, which is still in the bank. SUVA, March 6. The steamer South Australian has arrived here, and reports that while at Futuna Island, in the New Hebrides Group, the purser, Mr Withings, went ashore, and was attacked and tomahawked by the natives. A site has been chosen for a Shakespeare architectural monument —a statue in Park Crescent, looking down upon Portland Place. An effort is being made to raise £200,000 for the monument, and in further- • ance of Shakespearian interests. The Bank of Australasia's annual report recommends a dividend of 14 per cent, and a bonus of 8s a share. | The sum of £60,000 will be added to the reserve, £IB,OOO placed to the premises account, £17,000 absorbed in a 10 per cent, bonus to the staff, and £16,074 carried forward.
