Bakers' Conference.
NEW PLYMOUTH, March 4. The Bakers' Conference was resumed this morning. The Pure Food Bill was discussed, and it was resolved that the executive should draw the attention of the Health Department to the fact that the regulations re the moisture in bread are unworkable, and suggest that the text comprise both crumb and crust; and also that they approach him with regard to the exemption of different classes of bread. It was resolved that in'framing all future awards it should be specified that no overtime should be paid until a full week's work of 51 hours had been completed. It was decided to recommend the Unions throughout (he dominion to adopt the cash system. A discussion took place on the question of revising the slicing scale for selling bread. A new scale, based on 2.5s per ton rises in flour, was carried ag follows: —When flcur is £8 per ton, bread to be 6c!; flour £9 ss, breacj 6Jd; flour £lO 10s, bread 7d; flour j£ll ss, bread 7Jd; flour £l3, bread j3d.
This following office is were electee! —President, Mr W. H. Kellow (Wellington); vice-president, Mr J. C. Laurenson (Dunedin); treasurer, Mr McParlatid (Wellington); executive, Messrs Kellow, Denhard, McParland and Langdor. Th 3 nexj Conference was offered to Christchurcli, and if this is not accepted the Conference will be held at Palmerston North.
