The Trades and Labour Council discussed a question sent yesterday re a general strike, and the general opinion wished it to be known that a large majority of the council objected to the idea of a general strike.
DEADLOCK CONTINUES. GREYMOUTH, March 4. The deadlock continues. Mr Lomas, chief inspector, is now communicating with the Minister. GREYMOUTH, Last Night. There is nothing new to report regarding the strike at Blackball, and no negotiations for a settlement are in operation. There is a complete deadlock. Mr Lomas has reported to the Minister, and is awaiting instructions. Everything is orderly at Blackball.
