DANNEVIRKE ACCEPTANCES

Acceptances for the first day's handicaps and entries for the Trial Stakes and Shorts Handicap, to be run at the Dannevirke Jockey Club's annual race meeting on Wednesday and Thursday next, will clo'~e with the secretary, Mr Jas. Spiers Freeman, Dannevirke, at 9 o'clock tonight.

WANGANUI, March 3.

Light rain fell early this morning, but not sufficient to interfere with work on the training tracks. Dear Dolly went twice round, sprinting the last two furlongs. Tangimcana, looking really well, did once round at a good sound pace. Irish Rifle did easy pacing work. Cachuca and Moeraki galloped a mile and a-quarter at top, the former finishing well in front. Mahutn went once round, finishing well. Moloch did a couple of rounds of steady work. Belario, Watershed, Somali and Happy Maid went seven furlongs, Belario and Happy Maid finishing together in front, the other two well up. The time registered was lmin 33sec. Xavier jumped three hurdles by himself, the display being node too pleasing. Mulga Bijl and Miss Vera covered six furlongs in lmin 19sec—one of the best gallops of the morning, the latter being well ahead at the finish. Master Delaval and Zimmerman did a good serviceable gallop of once round, the latter having the best of the deal. Ballarat. Yosami, Kairoma. and others did good work. After breakfast Taitoki and Swimmnig Belt galloped six furlongs in lmin 18sec, the ' latter finishing slightly in the lead. Marguerite and Gold Crest went a mile and a-quarter in 2min 12sec, a rattling good performance. Maui and AtaahuH went twice round over hurdles in good style.
