CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING AT HOBART. Received March 3, 12.25 a.m. HOBART, .Varch 2.

The Amateur Athletic Championship meeting was continued today. A feature of the day was the success of the New Zealandeis, who finished up with five championships to their credit, New South Wales four and a-half, Victoria one and a-haif, Tasmania and Queensland one each. The defeat of Barker in the 880 yards and of Davis in the 440 yards huriles came as a great surprise, but the victory of the Maorilandsrs was applauded to the echo. The breaking of the Australian record in the pole jump by McKay aroused intense enthusiasm.' Hesuits: —

Three Mile Running.—Sharp 1, Clewes 2, Blake 3. Time, 15niin 36aec.

220 Yards. —Barker 1, Fay and Morgan dead heat 2. Barker was away first, and quickly obtained a good lead, winning by six yards. Time, 22 3-ssec. Fay and Morgan ran off for second place, and the latter won comfortably. Time, 24sec. Three-mile Walk. —Kerr 1, Stubberfield 2. The other starters were C. Rose and Smith, but they gave up early in the race. Kerr won easily by 150 yards. Time! 23min 55 3-ssec. Throwing ths Hammer. —Kearney, 125 ft 7ih, 1; O'Reilly, 124 ft llin, 2. Pole Jump.—McKay, lift lin, 1; Fraiey, lift, 2. This was one of the best items. The bar was lifted three inches at a time, until only McKay and Fraiey were left in. Both men cleared it at lift, and then they were given, a chance to beat the record (lift Jin). In this McKay succeeded in, doing it at the second effort by clearing lift lin amidst loud and prolonged applause. Broad Jump—Davis, 20ft 9in, 1; Barker, 20ft 2£in, 2; Mackay, 19ft lOJin, 3. 880 Yards. —Trembath 1, Barker 2,Fisher 3. Won by four yards. Time, 2min l-3sec.

440 Yards Hurdles. — Murray 1, Davis 2, Stewart 3. Davis led till nearing home, when Murray caught him at the last hurdle, and won by two yards. Time, 58 2-ssec.
