THE TROUBLE AT BLACKBALL.
POSITION UNALTERED
BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. GREYMOUTH, February 27. The position at Blackball remains unaltered. No work was done today. The company have only enough coal to fill one more steamer. The manager, interviewed by a reporter, stated that the company desired to work ten hours per day, giving the men overtime. This was refused, and when eight hours had been gone back to he had to dismiss some men who could not have been profitably employed. (A telegram, published yesterday morning, stated that seven miners had been dismissed from the Blackball mine on Wednesday night, and that on Thursday all the men refused to go to work.) WELLINGTON, February 28. The Hon. J. A. Millar, Minister of Labour, does not deem it advisable to say anj thing at this juncture regarding the trouble at the Blackball Mine. The position, he says, is a seriuus one, and it will require careful consideration on the part of the Government.
