District Meeting of Foresters.

DANNEVIRKE, February 28

The district meeting of Foresters was held at Dannevirke, to-day, delegates being present from all lodges in the district. One of the principal motions passed was to the effect "that the delegates here assembled call upon the Friendly Societies' Council to urge the Government to cause a thorough investigation to be made into the financial standing of the fraternal sor-ieties before passing any fresh legislation, such inquiry to embrace an examination of the rate of payment, cose of management and investment of funds, the possibility of the orders paying all their claims, and to find out the lowest safe minimum rate which ought to be paid for the benefits promised."
