PERSONAL.

Miss Grey, of Eketahunn, has been appointed teacher at the Mangaoronga School. Mr W. P. James, S.M., has been appointed Chairman of the Licensing Committee for the Pahiatua district.

Miss Easson has resigned her position as teacher at the Kaipororo School.

Mr W. Cade, of the staff of the' Featherston Post Office, is to be transferred to Pahiatua, and will be succeeded by Mr Holland, of Pahiatua. Mr W. Ferguson, late secretary of the Wellington Harbour Board, proceeds to Melbourne, to-day, to advise the authorities at Melbourne on a scheme for improving the shipping facilities on the Yarra river.

Mr Percy Young, local representative of the Mutual Life Association, received word yesterday that the General Manager of the ' Association, *Mr J. C. Kenington, died that day in Sydney. Deceased was a very popular official of the company, and the news of his death will be received with general regret. He was in Masterton about twelve months ago, whilst on a tour of the dominion, and on his return to Australia the leading dailies there were supplied by him with glowing accounts of his impressions of New Zealand. Mr Young leaves Masterton to-day on a business visit to the South Island, which will occupy several weeks.
