Mead has been elected president of the Eketahuna Chamber of Commerce, Mr F. H. Wise vice-president, and Mr T. bedding secretary. Mr and Mrs Hoffman, of Weatbush Road, very old residents of the Masterton district, celebrated their golden wedding at St. Patricks Church yesterday. Subsequently they entertained a large number of friends at their residence.
Prior to leaving for Wellington, to enter the Teachers' Training College, Miss Marv Skelley. of the Carterton District High School, was presented with a chatelaine and silver-mounted inkstand. The presentation was made by/Mr A. N. Burn". 8.A., headmaster, on behalf of the staff. Mrs Dupre, widow of the late Mr F C Duore. of Masteiton,died shortly before 10 o'clock, last night, at her residence, Church Street after an illness extending over nearly sixteen months. Her husband pre-deceased her by about sixteen months, and since that time Mrs Dupre suffered from an illness which ultimately caused her death. The deceased was 65 years of age, and was a native oi Ballanar, County Tipperary, Ireland. She came to New Zealand in rhe early days and landed at Greymouth, where she resided up till nine years ago when she removed with her husband to Masterton. She has lived here ever, since. A family of three daughters and two sons are left to mourn their loss, and they will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sad bereavement. funeral will take place on Saturday afternoon, at 2.30 o'clock.
