The New Zealand Loan and Mer cantile Agency Co., Ltd.. report a follows:—At Pahiatua on Tuesday we offered a fair yarding of sheep, and although bidding was dull throughout w~<¥ade a clearance. Cattle were fairly well represented, mostly all selling at current rates. At Masterton on Wednesday we had a full yarding of sheep of all classes. The effect of the dry season was evidenced by the condition of the stock all through. Bidding at the start lacked animation, but as the. sale proceeded vendors realised the fact that to sell they must make reserves easy, which was done in most cases, enabling us to make a clearance at rates that was considered satisfactory under all circumstances. Cattle entries were limited to a few pens of cows, these meeting rather a poor reception. They quote as follows: P.m. ewes 5s Id to 5s Bd, two-tooth wethers lis 6d, fat and forward lamb 10s, cull lambs 4p to 4s 6d, store cows £2, two-tooth to f.m. ewes 8s sd, fat ewes 12s 7d, store lambs 5s 7d to 6s, fat cows .£4 ss, empty heifers £1 10s, bull £l.
