Disturbance in a Train.
ROUGH AND TUMBLE FIGHT,
PALMERSTON N., February 23
A number of flaxmill hands, who were in town on Saturday, created a great disturbance on the 5 o'clock down train going to Longburn.
Guard Grant endeavoured to remove them from the train, and when the men resisted ..two of the Manawatu Company's guards were called to his assistance, and the men were eventually got out. Then a rough and tumble fight took place between; six of the flaxmill hands and three guards. It must have gone badly with the latter had it not been for the timely and unexpected assistance of Constable Ingram, who happened to be travelling in plain clothes. The men were finally overpowered, and a message sent to Palmerston North, "-here another Constable went out in a cab, and the men were all arrested.
