ASIATIC IMMIGRATION.
EXCITEMENT AT VANCOUVER
HUGE ANTI-ASIATIC? PARADE THREATENED.
RIOTS FEARED
Received February 23, 4.16 p.m. VANCOUVER, February 22
The Anti-Asiatic Party at Vancouver are becoming increasingly excited and threaten a huge parade through the streets. Riots are feared. Sir Wilfrid Laurier (Premier of Canada) is awaiting the decision of the Court, which it is generally expected will declare the Natal Act unconstitutional. If otherwise, tne Act will be disallowed, owing to its conflicting with the Anglo-Japanese treaty. (Recently the British Columbia Assembly passed the Immigration Bill, a measure which restricts immigration on the lines of Natal's Act. The provincial 'legislatures in Canada have full powers to regulate their own affairs, provided that they do not interfere with the action and policy of the central administration. Previous Immigration Restriction Bills passed by British Columbia have been vetoed).
