Two small bands of Bulgarians are now on their way to Australia and New Zealairj. A cable has been sent to Suez to warn them of the plight of their countrymen who were dumped down in Australia a few weeks ago. (The Bulgarians who are stranded in Melbourne and Sydney were, it is said, misled by unscrupulous agents, who guaranteed them payment at the rate of a £1 a day until they secured employment. The Bulgarians cannot speak English, and are practically without means).

QUEENSLAND POLITICS.

(Miss Adler is a daughter of Madame Lenora Simonsen, the eldest daughter of the famous operatic itnpressario. She is therefore a niece of Miss Francis Saville, the well-known prima donna).

Owing to the great shortage of boy labour, negotiations have been opened up with the Barnado, Muller, and Quarrier Homes, which in the past sent lads to Canada, to see whether a supply suitable for farms cannot be sent to Australia. It is proposed to take a trial batch of twenty-five.

Received February 20, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, February 20. The crew of the Claremont lightship put oiF to a passing steamer, and were unable to regain the lightship. They were for six days without food. After great hardships they landed on the mainland, where friendly blacks fed them.

Received February 20, 11.30 p.m. SYDNEY, February 20.. The Hon. T. Waddell, Treasurer, states that the revenue for the seven months of the financial year is £706,000, an advance on the same period last year. He expects to maintain this advance to the close of the year.

Received February 20, 11.30 p.m. HOBART, February 20. The Arawa has arrived from London. She sails for Wellington at nine o'clock to-night. Eight passengers lauded here, and 265 are proceeding to New Zealand.
