WAIRARAPA AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB.
The Sn.al event—66 yards handicap —in the competition for Mr E. Daniel's medal was contested last evening in the Municipal Baths. The following were the officials; Starter, Mr J. Scoit; check starter, Mr S. R. Edwards; judges, Mr E. Daniel and Mr W. Uren. The handicapper, Mr E. Richards, was also a sp3C f ator. A large gathering assembled to witness the swimming, and wAm not disappointed, as, on the •shole, it was exceptionally good. J. McLean, the scratch man, who' has recently adopted the "crawl" style of swimming, and uses this to. the best advantage, swam well, A. Kelly, the winner, of the medal, deserves mention, as he is practically out of training. He, too, swam well. The win was a popular one. The handicapper, Mr E. Richards, is to be congratulated upon the manner in which he carried out his work, as nearly the whole of those who entered for the various events faced the starter, and in almost every event exciting finishes were witnessed. The following are the results: — 66 yards handicap.—First heat: C. Ball, * Ssec, 1; A. Donald, Bsec, 2; time, 47 4-ssec. Second heat: A.
Kelly, Ssec, I; H. Keisenberg, 12sec, 2; time, 52sec. Third heat: J. osec, 1; J. McLean, Scratch. 2; time, 4G 2-osec. Final: C. Ball, 6sec, 1; A. Kelly, Bsec, 2; J. McLean, scr, 3; time, 57 2-ssec. The aggregate number of points scored in the three events (25 yards, 40 yards and 66 varcls handicaps) are as follow: -A. Kajly, 10; C. Ball. 8; A. E. Baker;*/; H. Keisenberg, 4?>; A. Donald, 4£; J. Winchester, A; J. McLean. 4; L. Shuttleworth, 2; S. Mason, 1. Members are reminded that entries for Dr. R. V. Hosking's medal will close on Thursday night. The distances are 25 yards on back, 50 and 160 yards handicaps, and 100 yards breast stroke. The two long distance events, 200 yards ami 400 yards handicaps, previously decided on, have been replaced by the breast stroke. The meeting of the members of the Club that was to have been held tomorrow evening has been postponed until Friday evening next, at S o'clock, in the Dominion Hall. All members are requested to attend, as I several matters of importance are to f be discussed.
