HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, February 17. The Department of Industries and .Commerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, .dated February 15th:—The mutton market is dull. Canterbury mutton ,is very scarce and is quoted at 4§d nominal, Southland arid W-M.E. brairis are quoted at 3gd, North .Island 3Jd, Australian 23ci, and River Plate 3d. The lamb market is a shade weaker, but there is fair demand. The following are the current quotatons: -Canterbury lamb, sJdto6d; other than Canterbury, s£d to s§d. There has been no alteration in the beat' market since last week. jfhere is a further general advance in the butter market. New Zealand butter is quoted at 150s, Danish 151s, Australian ,148s, Siberian 144s per cwt. The cheese market is quiet, but firm. White makes are quoted at tils, and coloured at 625. The hemp market is weak. The following are the current quotations: —Good fair grade. £27 15s; fair grades, £26 15s; tow, £lO per tori; March and April shipments, good fair prada. £25 LOa; Manila, £27 5s per ton. The first shipment of hemp from St. Helena proved of good quality, and sold at £27 10j per ton. Tb.3 cocksfoot market is quiet but .firm. The following are the shipments •fro'in River Plate during the moiuh of Jaii^ry:- -Mutton—London, 92,309; Newcastle, 4,000; Cardiff, 420; J3outhaoiptjn, 1,300. Lamb—London, 6,960; Liverpool, 9,311; Hull, 987; Newcastle, 200; Southampton, 141.
