Miss J. Marwick has been appointed assistant mistress at the Hamua school, and Miss A. Simmonds assistant at the Hukanui school.
The resignation of the Rev. W. Woollas,. who is, at present.in charge of the Presbyterian Church at Pahiatua, has been accepted by the Wellington Presbytery.
On Friday evening next a farewell social will be tendered in the Methodist Church, Carterton, to Mr and Mrs H. Callister, who intend taking a trip to the Old Country.
Mr ■A. B. Lawrence, manager of the local branch of the Union Bank of Australia, is taking a few weeks holiday, and leaves for Wellington, with his family, to-day. Mr W. G. C. France will be in temporary charge of the Bank's Masterton business.
The Rev. Father Cahill will leave Carterton on Friday next to take charge of the Dannevirke oarish, which includes Ormondville, Weber, Waione, Norsewood. and Herbertville. The Rev. Father Cahill preached farewell sermons at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Carterton, yesterday.
Mr D. Hetienton, of Masterton, has been successful in winning the gold medal presented by Mr J. P. Lane, .Resident Secretary of the Citizens' Life Assurance Society, in connection with the "farewell competition" open to all agents in New Zealand. Mr Lane is leaving New Zealand to take up the Society's business in Western Australia. Mr Hehencon also recently won the first prize for the competition held to promote the industrial branch.
