TINUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
TINUL February 12
Mr Hornsby, M.P., delivered a political address here on the Bth instant, to a large audience. Mr T. Cripps occupied the chair. Mr Hornsby spoke at some length on the new Land Bill, the Free Food Bill, Unions, and the Asiatic question, and was listened to attentively throughout. He impressed 011 his audience not to be a satisfied peoale, never to think that we had reached finality. If we allowed such thoughts to enter our heads it would be a sorry day for us. Mr A. T. Hancock proposed a vote of thanks to Mr Hornsby for his address, which was by Mr W. Dickens and carried by acclamation.
It is the first time Tinui people have heard Mr Hornsby, and the general opinion is that it was the most interesting political address ever delivered here. One old identity said that he would go just for ten minutes, but instead of leaving as he stated, he stayed throughout, and was sorry when the address was finished.
Grass is becoming scarce all over the district, and the drought is being severely felt. The rivers are very low, and a nutaber of streams have dried up. t Keen interest ia being taken here now in cricket. It is to be regretted that Masterton is so far away, for local players would be glad to have a game now and again with fplayers in that town. I hear that a team of Te VVharau cricketers intend visiting Masterton to play matches against the Carlton Club, and Welch Family. The Carlton Thursday team will be ployed on a Thursday, the Welch Family on a Friday and the Cfarlton A team on a Saturday.
