ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
BY TELEGIIAPII—PHES3 ASSOCIATION. WAIROA, February 12. A man named J. W. Favvcett was drowned to-day in the Morere hot sorings. * INVERCARGILL, February 12. A young man named John Thompson, who travelled for his father, a tailor, was found drowned in the Estuary to-day. \ charge had been brought against him of falsely representing that he had forwarded ten pounds through the post to his father, and he was under remand. The deceased left a note stating that he would not be seen again. HOKITIKA, February 12.
A fire occurred at Kumara at midnight, a small dwelling being burned co the ground. The remains of the occcupant, an elderly woman, named Mrs Cato, were found among the ruins close to the position of the fireplace. Some few years ago, deceased fell over a cliff in the same vicinity and was exposed for some days, being unable to move owing to a broken leg. DANNEVIRKE, February 12.
A wagoner named Telford, while driving on the Dannevirke-Coast road, met with an exciting accident. He was met by a motor-car on a hill about twelve miles from Dannevirke, and the horses took fright. They dragged the loaded wagon over the roadside, and it rolled about 300 feet down. Two horses were killed, and the wagon smashed up, but the driver escaped with a few bruises.
