MASTERTON A. AND P. SHOW.
RECORD ENTRIES
The Masterton A. and P. Association must feel more than satisfied with the splendid entries received for the Show to be held on the 18th and 19th inst. It was thought that the exceptionally dry season that has been experienced would have had the effect of substantially reducing the number of entries, but the contrary has been the case, and record entries havei been received. Compared with last year an increase of 134 entries has resulted, as will be seen by the following figures:— 1907. 1908. Competitions 161 185 Horses 299 268 Cattle 178 233 Sheep 541 624 Dogs 50 68 Pigs 51 52 Produce 156 144 Horticultural 249 245 1,685 1,819 In horses, sheep and cattle the entries will probably be found to constitute a record for the dominion. In horses, for instance, it means that practically 268 different horses will be competing, as the rules of the Association preclude, with one or two exceptions, any horse competing in more than one class.
