OPAKI QUOITS CLUB.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The fourth annual meeting of the Opaki Quoits Club was held on Thursday evening, in Mr Wyeth's woolshed. Mr Wyeth occupied the chair, and twenty other members were present. The energetic secretary, Mr S. Tankersley, read the annual report and balance-sheet, which showed a satisfactory credit balance. The Chairman, before moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet, congratulated the Club on their success during the past year, as they had not lost a match, and had now won outright the Wairarapa Quoits Association's Shield with an unbeaten record. They also held the North Island Challenge Shield. At the monthly competitions for the past year the average attendance of player 3 was 18 against 17 the previous year. Keen competition for the yearly points prizes bad resulted in very close finishes. Mr Henderson's gold medal for the highest aggregate was won by J. Nicholson, scoring 593 points, and S. Tankersley was second with a score of 588. Mr Wyeth's gold medal for the most points scored in wins was won by H. Chamberlain with 18J points, Searle 12 points second, and S. Tankersley 11 points third. The Challenge Chain was won by S. Tankersley by the narrow margin of one point, Harford being second. Mr Searle proposed, and Mr R. Tankersley seconded, that the Shield which the Club had won should be presented to their President, who had, since the formation of the Club, been its "back-bone," and always taken the keenest interest in its welfare. Mr Wyeth, who was loudly applauded, in thanking the Club for the honour conferred upon him in making him a present of the Shield, said that should the Shield at any time be required for competition he would give it with the permission of the members. Mr Wyeth presented a gold medal to be competed for in the same manner as last year, and also notified that the W.F.C.A. had promised a gold medal for competition. Following votes of thankj were proposed:—Retiring officers, by Mr H. Hunt; Ladies, by Mr T. Wyeth; Press, by Mr J. Nicholson; Donors of Trophies, by Mr S, Tankersley. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr A. McLeod (reelected) ; President, Mr T. Wyeth (re-elected); Vice-Presidents, Messrs Searle and D. McKenzie (re-el a cted); Captain, Mr J. Nicholson (re-elected); Secretary. Mr S. Tankersley (reelected); Committee, Messrs *R. Hunt, E. Petersen, R. Tankersley, PI. Christensen (re-elected),, H. Hunt and Reader. Mr Nicholson presented to Mr H. Chamberlain Mr Wyeth's gold medal won in competition. A hearty vote of thanks to Mr Wyeth for kindly supplying refreshments concluded the meeting.
