Mr Harry Crispin, formerly a resident of Greytuwn, died at Dannevirke last week, at the age of 27 yp.ars. Mr R. L. Jellicoe, of the Greylown Post Office staff, has- passed the Junior Civil Service Examination. Nurse Parker, of the staff of the Greytown Hospital, who, has been' seriously ill with fever, is now convalescent. ' ' Miss lorns, who has been appointed teacher at the Dry River School, entered upon her duties on Monday last. Miss Jacobson, late of the Pongaroa School, commenced her i new duties at the Martinborough School on Monday. ]kr and Mrs C. E. Cockburn-Hocd, of this district, left Masterton yesterday morning, on an extended trip to the Old Couptry. Before leaving Glendonald station they were presented by the employees with a pair of travelling rugs as a souvenir of the occasion. A Press Association telegram states that Captain 1 Rhodes, only brother of the late Mr Cecil Rhodes, of South Africa, arrived in Auckland by the Hauroto, from Fiji, yesterday. 1 He left for the South by the Mokoia in the afternoon,'and subsequently leturns to Auckland to visit Rotorua. He is accompanied by LieutenantColonel Ward.
