DEARTH OF APPLICANTS. BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. DANNEVIRKE, January 31. The ballot for thirty sections in the Ruamati Block, recently purchased by the Government [near Dannevirke, took place this morning. There was not a great rush for the sections, which were generally considered to foe high priced, and twelve were not taken up. The exceptionally dry sea.son, and the fact that the regulations •compel the payment of twelve months :rent in advance also contributed to •the dearth of applicants. The following is the result of the iballot : Station 48, Block X. (eight applicants: C. R. L. Mitchell, Makutuku; section 50, Block X. (one applicant): •J. A. Sutherland, Wellington; section 52, Block X. (four applicants): T. J. Bia, Ormondville; secton 4, ißlock XVI. (one applicant): E. Pilcher; section 5, Block XVI. (homestead, 17 applicants): Lucy Gibbs, Rongotea; section 7, Block XVI: John Massey, Meanee, Hawke's Bay; section 8, Block XVI.: J. M. Simpson, Wellington; section 9, Block XVI (12 applicants): Letecii Johnston, Mangatoro; section 10, Block XVI. (five applicants): William Shaw, St. Alban's, Christchurch; section 13, Block XVI. (three applicants): Mrs Price, Dannevirke; .section 16, Block XVI. (five applicants): William Webster; section •18, Block XVI. (four applicants): ElizaQ|th Hart, Maharahara; section i"9, Block XVI.: W. F. Price, Dannevirke (only one applicant); section 21, tflock XVI.: Arnold Forsaith, Lower Hutt (only one applicant) ; section 22, Block XVI.: R. l J. Stevenson, Ohau, Canterbury (only one applicant). Sections 51, 54, 55, 2 and 28 (bracketed), 3 and 29 (bracketed), ■6, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, and 20 were n.>t applied for, but several applications •were handed in after the ballot. These will be balloted for by new applicant?, at Napier, to-morrow.
