Patent Slip at Evans' Bay.
DISCUSSION AT HARBOUR BOARD MEETING. WELLINGTON, January 30. At the Harbour Board meeting, to-day, there was considerable discussion regarding the negotiations that have been conducted in regard to the Patent Slip and its possible acquisition by the Board. The matter was brought to a head by the Chairman (Hon. T. K. McDonald, M.L.C.) moving "That the Secretary be now instructed to put in force the resolution passed by the Board on December sth, 1907, requiring the solicitor to proceed legally for the compulsory acquirement of the Patent Slip property." It was urged by members that the Board would probably do better by private negotiations. Mr McDonald therefore withdrew his motion, and private negotiations will continue.
